So, most people that know about this blog are my friends, and most of my friends know that my twitter username is @RickyMartin. This has been a long saga of hilariousness, as I never pretend to actually be the Latin pop singer. My name is on the account, my picture is on the account, and I tweet as me. And yet, as of this moment, I have 1,546 followers, about 1500 of which remain unawares to the fact that I am actually a 23-year-old female living in Utah.
I have been e-mailed by twitter administrators asking for verification of my name, which ultimately resulted in the real Ricky Martin having to settle for the username @Ricky_Martin. I was nominated (though I did not win) for the title of "Mr. Twitter Puerto Rico". Also, upon gaining 1,000 followers, Emory C. has offered to throw me a latin-themed party.
I hovered around 500 followers until Ricky_Martin officially "came out of the closet," which pushed me to 1,000 followers. I was afraid to tweet anything for fear that my followers would get smart on me and unfollow, leaving me below the 1,000 mark and then the party plans would be over. So I have not tweeted anything for about a month.
Until last night, when I was trying to go grocery shopping at the Smiths in South Provo, but I couldn't because about a minute before I walked up, there was a shooting. Police were everywhere, costumers were running out of the store, and I had to do my shopping elsewhere. Then this happened:
